Farming has never been a solo effort. From family members and seed dealers to agronomists, researchers and industry partners, success requires a team. The American Dream campaign highlights this spirit through the powerful message “Your Dream, Our Team” — a reflection of how the checkoff plays a critical role in helping farmers succeed. Whether funding research for better seed varieties, advancing tools to fight pests such as soybean cyst nematode or opening new markets for soybeans, the checkoff is part of every farmer’s team, working behind the scenes to support their dreams.
At the heart of this campaign is the story of Gavin Spoor, a young first-generation grower whose journey highlights the teamwork and determination it takes to turn dreams into reality. For Gavin, farming is about building something from the ground up. Without a family operation to inherit, he started his farm with hard work, vision and the support of others. His story mirrors many farmers’ challenges — unpredictable weather, equipment breakdowns and sleepless nights during harvest.
The checkoff’s mission is simple: to serve the Missouri soybean farmer through soybean demand growth, innovative research and proactive education. By investing in research, education and market development, the checkoff helps farmers protect their bottom line while building a stronger sector for the next generation.
“Your Missouri checkoff is not only here to support the soybean farmer but also to be on your team,” said Mark Lehenbauer, MSMC chair. “ We are here to support you and invest in innovation and opportunities. The checkoff ensures that farmers have access to the tools and resources they need to thrive.”

However, the checkoff is not the only integral piece of a farmer’s team. MSMC understands the complexities of operating the family business and what it takes to break into the industry. That is why, like our farmers, MSMC partners with seed dealers, agronomists, applicators, mechanics and many others to progress the soy value chain.
This campaign reflects on that deep connection between farmers, their communities and the partners who support them. Whether it’s a family operation passed down for generations or a young farmer starting from scratch, the dream remains the same: to grow something lasting, something meaningful. When farmers succeed, the entire team succeeds — communities flourish, economies grow and Missouri agriculture continues to thrive.
