Missouri Soybean Association Endorses Schaefer for Attorney General

The Missouri Soybean Association, the statewide voice for soybean farmers in Jefferson City, announced today its endorsement of a friend of agriculture currently seeking higher office. The Association board of directors has voted to official support Senator Kurt Schaefer for Missouri Attorney General in 2016.

“Kurt Schaefer has been a solid supporter of soybean farmers’ priorities and for all of agriculture in the Senate,” said Ronnie Russell, a Missouri soybean farmer and Association director from Richmond. “He stands with agriculture on key issues, including pushing back against frivolous lawsuits and federal overreach in the EPA Waters of the U.S. and Clean Power Plan regulations. He has also shown outstanding commitment to fight for Missouri’s best interest when it comes to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and management of the Missouri River.”

In addition to his stance on agriculture priorities, Sen. Schaefer brings key legal experience to the Attorney General’s race, having served as Assistant Attorney General Counsel for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Special Counsel for the Missouri Department of Agriculture.

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of the MSA,” said Sen. Schaefer. “As someone who has fought to protect Missouri agriculture in the Missouri General Assembly and in courtrooms throughout the State, I know firsthand the importance of Missouri’s farmers to Missouri’s future.”
