The Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council (MSMC) has announced Kaitlin Flick Dinsmore as its new technical conservation agronomist. Dinsmore brings extensive experience in plant science, agronomy, and nutrient management to the role, where she will assist farmers in navigating the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and its implications for pesticide use.
As a technical conservation agronomist, Dinsmore will focus on becoming an expert in pesticide strategies, including herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and rodenticides, and educating farmers on implementing mitigation requirements and interpreting pesticide labels.
Additionally, she will collaborate with partners such as the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the Natural Resources Conservation Service to help farmers comply with emerging ESA regulations.
“I am excited for the opportunity to be a resource for Missouri farmers and help navigate the uncertainties around ESA while providing them with solutions for their operations,” said Dinsmore. “This role is crucial as we continue to see ESA language and mitigation requirements on pesticide labels for new products and those undergoing reregistration.”
Dinsmore, a Certified Crop Advisor, holds a degree in plant science from the University of Missouri. She began her career with MFA Inc. and Syngenta Crop Protection before founding a consulting business specializing in nutrient management planning.
“Kaitlin’s deep understanding of agronomy and her commitment to supporting farmers make her an excellent fit for this role,” said Blake Barlow, Missouri Soybeans’ director of research and agronomy. “As regulations evolve, her guidance will be essential in helping Missouri farmers adapt and thrive while ensuring compliance.”
