All projects have a direct connection to the challenges facing Missouri soybean producers on the farm and in the marketplace.
Soybean research is one of the top priorities for the farmer leaders of the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council board of directors, and a new report spells out exactly where farmers’ research dollars are going.
“Research is consistently a top priority for Missouri’s soybean farmers when it comes to investing their checkoff dollars,” said Kyle Durham, a farmer from Norborne and chairman of the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council. “The Annual Research Report is an overview of farmers’ research portfolio, and of the creativity and innovation going into addressing challenges soybean producers face on the farm and in the marketplace.”
The Annual Research Report reviews soybean research funded by farmers’ checkoff dollars and is available now.
The Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council’s annual research report brings together soy checkoff-supported work in agronomy, soybean breeding and new uses for soy. The report includes summaries of project results for completed and ongoing projects, as well as details on funding and about the researchers leading the work. This is the report’s fifth year.
Throughout the year, Missouri’s soybean growers are invited to share their thoughts on research priorities, on-farm and marketplace challenges, and innovation along the soy value chain through surveys and discussions. That feedback is instrumental in setting funding priorities.
Funding decisions for projects within the report are made by the Merchandising Council’s 13-farmer board of directors, following a rigorous application and review process. That process is also outlined in the annual report.
The Annual Research Report was distributed to more than 37,000 households in the April 2021 issue of Missouri Soybean Farmer magazine. An electronic edition is available online at mosoy.org, and printed copies are available from the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council online at mosoy.org/contact-us and by calling (573) 635-3819.
