Missouri Soybeans Celebrates Soy Foods Month with Free Soy Lattes

As part of the celebration, the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council (MSMC) will be sponsoring free soy latte giveaways at two Jefferson City coffee shops for one week in April.

From April 7-11, stop by Coffee Zone (130 E High St, Jefferson City, MO) or High Rise Bakery (118 E High St, Jefferson City, MO) to receive a free 12-ounce soy latte. Missouri Soybeans will also be hosting a giveaway for gift cards to each coffee shop.

The United States is a global leader in soybean production, with Missouri farmers growing 5.7 million acres of soybeans annually. To meet rising demand, farmers prioritize sustainability through soil and water conservation, crop rotation, and carbon reduction efforts. By implementing these practices, U.S. and Missouri soybean farmers ensure a reliable supply of nutritious, versatile, and sustainable food for people around the world.

“As we celebrate Soy Foods Month in Missouri, we want to recognize the countless ways soybeans enrich our lives,” Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council chairman Mark Lehenbauer says. “Soy provides high-quality protein for both humans and animals, and Missouri’s soybean farmers are at the heart of an industry that continues to nourish communities across the state and beyond. This month, we honor our dedicated farmers, soybeans, and the vital role they play in feeding the world.”

Soy Foods Month is a time to celebrate soy’s powerful plant-based nutrition, heart health benefits, and role in a balanced diet. As a high-quality protein, soy provides all nine essential amino acids and is a rich source of folate, potassium, fiber, iron, and zinc. Soymilk is the only plant-based milk recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, providing 7 grams of protein per cup.

Soy is also the only plant protein recognized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its heart health benefits, with 25 grams per day potentially reducing the risk of heart disease. Research continues to highlight the benefits of soybean oil, linking it to improved heart health, lower risk of diabetes, and overall well-being. Additionally, soy protein can support weight management by promoting satiety, aiding digestion, and helping maintain muscle mass, making it a versatile and nutritious addition to any meal.

In addition to free soy lattes and other giveaways, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe will proclaim April as Soy Foods Month in Missouri. A proclamation ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, Coffee Zone (130 E High St, Jefferson City, MO).
