Development of Functional Ultra High Stearic Acid Soybean Germplasm

Developing soybean germplasms adapted to the Mid-South

About this research project

MoSoy Investment = MoSoy Investment = $6,250

The objectives of this research project are to 1) molecularly characterize two populations segregating for stearic acid content using genomic sequencing and functional markers; 2) investigate and validate the compensation effect of different mutation combinations on stearic acid content and potentially negative agronomic traits and 3) develop soybean germplasms adapted to the mid-southern U.S with functional ultra-high stearic acid content and little or no detrimental effects on agronomic traits.
