Leveraging Stable Isotope Traits to Improve Soybean Water Use Efficiency and Yield Under Drought

Identifying, selecting and advancing WUE traits

About this research project

MoSoy Investment = $107,000

The specific objectives of this project are to 1) genotype and phenotype the MAGIC population to identify genetic markers and candidate genes associated with WUE traits, 2) select promising lines with proven isotope signatures and elite varieties background and conduct multi environment tests to determine yield, yield stability and potential tradeoffs associated with WUE traits in elite germplasm and 3) continue to advance mapping populations generated from crosses between elite germplasm and targeted WUE traits.
