Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council (MSMC), with support from the United Soybean Board, thanks Missourians for celebrating Soy Foods Month with us.
During the week of April 8, 2024, customers enjoyed more than 1,700 soy lattes at two coffee shops in downtown Jefferson City, Coffee Zone and High Rise. On Monday, Jefferson City Mayor Ron Fitzwater presented MSMC with a proclamation, declaring April Soy Foods Month in the Capitol City. Additionally, the Missouri Governor proclaimed April 2024 Soy Foods Month in Missouri. On Friday, April 12, MSMC hosted a Soy Foods Food Truck Celebration event at the Soy Innovation Center, where Rebel Tacos and Pizza Kwik featured soy ingredients on their menus.
“We want to thank everyone for celebrating Missouri Soy Foods Month with us,” says MSMC CEO and Executive Director Gary Wheeler. “When you choose soy foods and other soy-based products, you are benefiting your health as well as supporting hardworking Missouri farmers.”
Soy foods like tofu, edamame, tempeh, and soymilk are easy to incorporate into any diet. Add crispy tofu and fresh edamame to chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp stir fry dishes for a protein and isoflavone boost (powerful plant compounds naturally found in soybeans) that may help reduce breast and prostate cancer risk and lower cholesterol. Soybean protein and oil are both recognized for heart health benefits.
Mark your calendars next April to celebrate 2025 Missouri Soy Foods Month with us and stay up to date with our events on mosoy.org.
