Developing the Process to Raise Rainbow Trout More Tolerant to Soybean Meal Feed

Improving feed utilization efficiency will reduce the cost of producing commercial trout

About this research project

MoSoy Investment = $45,000

This project will develop a process to raise Rainbow Trout more tolerant to soybean meal feeds by improved feed utilization efficiency with the long-term goal of reducing the cost of producing commercial trout.  Major commercial trout producers are using University of Idaho’s selected trout lines, which provides a pipeline for transferring findings directly to stakeholders. Impact in Missouri could be introducing these lines of trout with producers such as MO Department of Conservation hatcheries.
